The industrial style of living originated in New York. Old factories were no longer used and were converted into temporary apartments, also known as lofts. Characteristic of this style is the use of rough and robust materials and a sober appearance. The materials that best characterize this living style are concrete, steel, wood, stone, and glass. Also consider brick and rough walls, concrete floors, and large steel windows as a base. An industrial home interior doesn’t have much decoration, such as metal letters. Typical colours are black, grey, white, cognac, brown, green, and blue. Large coarse factory lamps are indispensable in this style. Hang them on coarse chains or go for an old hand lamp. Go for vintage furniture, iron shelving and large carpets. The use of large plants not only creates atmosphere but is also perfect for the acoustics.
